When I was younger, I was always a little overweight.
My whole family is all all larger people.
No one is concerned about physical fitness and no one eats healthy. There was always a supply of junk food stockpiled in the cupboards. When my mother went grocery shopping, we piled the cart full with salty snacks, pop, ice cream, donuts and sugary treats. For dinner, we often ate fast food from Pizza Hut, Burger King and KY Fried Chicken. We usually had a snack right before bed and we watched a lot of television and played video games. Although I was embarrassed by my body, I had no idea how to go about dropping weight or getting fit. As I got older, I steadily gained more weight and began having some health issues. My knees, ankles, hips and feet hurt steadily. I started becoming seriously depressed. I tried a lot of different fad diets with no luck. While I was checking into new weight loss options online, I came across a fitness blog that suggested the assistance of a personal trainer. I was intrigued by the idea of having a knowledgeable professional provide one on one training. I didn’t have the confidence to enroll at a gym or participate in a group class. I contacted a personal trainer who’d received really wonderful client reviews and we met for a consultation. He and I went through my regular eating habits and normal activities. He wanted to know about health problems I’d experienced and helped me to determine long range goals. Measuring my BMI and weight and taking my measurements was really awful. We worked together to set up a meal plan I could follow. The personal trainer helped me to understand the importance of portion control and proper nutrition. I expected the training sessions to start easy, but they were immediately strenuous. I was tempted to quit on the first day. I’d never been so wet with sweat, exhausted and sore in my whole life. According to my personal trainer, giving up wasn’t allowed. As I continued with the plan, I began to notice some results. That encouraged me to work harder, and I lost a lot of weight very quickly.
