My entire family lives up north in the same general area. The older I become, the more I enjoy having everyone so close. Each and every year, we have the same family competition, plus it’s something I look forward to each plus every year. My parents, siblings, plus myself all get incredibly excited for our traditional heating appliance competition. Once fall starts officially, we each attempt to hold off switching the heat on, as we all live in separate dwellings… It’s all lighthearted enjoyment, but it’s proved to be very challenging during some years in the past. For instance, last year the temperature didn’t drop below 60 degrees until the end of October. Our heat competition basically dragged on forever, because nobody needed heat when the temperature was extremely high like that! My parents ended up winning, because they didn’t switch on their heating appliance until shortly before Thanksgiving! The year before last, we had a pretty serious snow storm at the start of October. It was the most wild thing, plus no weatherman could explain why we were getting snow that early. Needless to say, we all switched on our gas heating appliances super early that year. I can’t even remember who won that particular contest, because it didn’t even feel like a competition. The people I was with and I all needed to crank on our heating appliances, plus we were scrambling to get our HVAC appliance tested pretty much like everyone else in the area. At the moment, we’re all competing, plus the temperature is starting to drop now. I can’t wait to see who holds out on switching on their heating appliance last this year!
