We all needed heat, and we were scrambling to get our HVAC equipment serviced like everyone else in the area
My entire family lives up north in the same general area. The older I get, the more I appreciate having everyone so close. Each year, we have the same family competition, and it’s something I look forward to each and every year. My parents, sister, brother, and myself all get excited for our traditional heater competition. Once fall officially starts, we each attempt to hold off switching the heat on, as well all live in separate houses. It’s all lighthearted fun, but it’s proved to be harder during some years in the past. For example, last year the temperature didn’t drop below 60 degrees until the end of October. Our heat competition dragged on forever, because nobody needed heat when the temperature was so high! My parents ended up winning, because they didn’t switch on their furnace until two weeks before Thanksgiving! The year before last, we had a huge snow storm at the beginning of October. It was the most bizzare thing, and no weatherman could explain why we were getting snow so early. Needless to say, we all switched on our furnaces super early that year. I can’t even remember who won, because it didn’t feel like a competition. We all needed heat, and we were scrambling to get our HVAC equipment serviced like everyone else in the area. Currently, we’re all competing right now, and the temperature is finally starting to drop. I can’t wait to see who holds out on switching on their furnace last this year!
