I’m Waiting For The Temperatures to Drop Down South

It takes so much longer for the temperature to drop here, and I don’t appreciate it

The fall season is so frustrating for me. Almost all of my family lives somewhere up north, while I’m living down south. At the end of September, my family is visiting pumpkin patches, apple orchards, and breaking out their flannels. They’re bracing themselves and their HVAC equipment for the cooler weather as well. On the other hand, I’m still wearing shorts and t-shirts, and running my air conditioning system all day long. My dad always calls and reminds me to have my HVAC equipment serviced when he’s making his own HVAC appointment, but it’s hardly a reminder when I have to wait at least 6 more weeks before I can even think about turning off my air conditioning. I guess I could have my HVAC system serviced early and beat the rush, but it seems useless to me. I associate my HVAC servicing with seasonal transition, and that takes a lot longer when you live down south. I moved south for a job after graduation, and while I thought it would be rainbows and butterflies, it’s proved to be more difficult than I was expecting. First and foremost, I miss my family and friends. Secondly, I love the high temperatures most of the time, but not during the fall and winter. When summer ends, I look forward to a break in the temperature. It takes so much longer for the temperature to drop here, and I don’t appreciate it. In the meantime, I’ll scroll through social media and see everyone enjoying the cooler weather while I sit in my air conditioned home and wait for the temperature to drop.
